ABOUT THE JCI LIBRARY
The JCI Library and Archive collections have supported the research activities of the Carlebach Institute since its founding in March 1992. Specializing in German-Jewish history and religious thought, the library also encompasses Jewish philosophy, culture, education, and related fields. Its holdings include approximately 4,000 books, journals, and research materials in German, English, and Hebrew.
At the heart of the JCI Library is the research archive and book collection of its founder, Prof. Dr. Miriam Gillis-Carlebach. Over the years, the library has expanded through significant contributions, including the book collections and personal papers of Rabbi Dr. Hans I. Gruenewald, Dr. Moritz Stern, Rabbi Dr. Ephraim Carlebach, Manfred Hildesheim, and others.
As part of a centralized cataloging project, the JCI Library is integrated within the Bar-Ilan University Information Division . This initiative enhances discoverability and facilitates remote access to its collections.
